Love the long way

These are unprecedented times, so while we encourage you to take the long way and explore this great country, please make sure you stay safe and follow all recommended government guidelines and restrictions. These are constantly changing so always check for the latest before leaving home.

At Subaru we believe the long way is the best way. Because when we focus less on the destination, we give ourselves more time to discover, a greater chance to connect, and more opportunities to learn, laugh and grow together. So welcome to our Great Australian Detour content hub where you’ll find some great inspiration on where you can go with your family to experience the wonder of the natural beauty, unique attractions and amazing people across our glorious country.

All you need is a spirit of adventure, and a car with the capability and flexibility you need to getaway. Cue Subaru. With the sure-footed control and car-like handling of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the effortless power of the horizontally-opposed Boxer engine and the impeccable technology and class-leading safety credentials, it’s time to take the road less travelled.

Because remember, life’s not about getting from A to B, it’s the moments you share along the way.

Andrew Daddo's Great Australian Detour

In the best way, "Subaru's Great Australian Detour” harks back to a happier place… it’s about a road trip, about seeing things in a fresh, yet old fashioned way. It actually feels like a license to get off the highway and dawdle, which is secretly what I want to do, but for the past twenty years I’ve been scared to admit it to myself. To be honest, and this may sound trite, just going somewhere with a car loaded up and the family on board - that’s pretty much my favourite detour - I don’t actually care if we only make it to the beach up the road.
